Fidelity Bank Reaches Out to 1,500 Flood Victims in Mokwa with Food Relief Packs
Fidelity Bank Plc has extended critical relief to residents of Mokwa, Niger State, in the wake of devastating floods that recently displaced hundreds of families. As part of its ongoing Fidelity Food Bank Initiative, the bank distributed food packs to over 1,500 affected individuals, reaffirming its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities in times of crisis.
The humanitarian outreach, which took place in Mokwa, is one of several interventions by the bank under its Food Bank program—an initiative designed to alleviate hunger and restore hope among those impacted by disasters across Nigeria.
Speaking during the event, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, Divisional Head, Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank, emphasized the bank’s dedication to corporate social responsibility and community support.
> “At Fidelity Bank, we see ourselves as partners in progress with the communities we serve,” Dr. Nwagboh said. “Through the Fidelity Food Bank Initiative, we aim not only to provide immediate relief but also to demonstrate our enduring solidarity with people during their most difficult times.”
He added that the gesture is a reflection of the bank’s belief in compassionate and timely action, stating:
> “This donation is more than a response—it is a symbol of our shared humanity. The people of Mokwa are not alone. We are here to stand with them and help them on their journey to recovery.”
The distribution event drew the presence of several key government dignitaries, led by the First Lady of Niger State, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago. Others in attendance included the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman Gawu; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi Gbatamangi; and Deputy Chief of Staff, Alhaji Yusuf Sadiq.
Additional members of the state executive who participated were Alhaji Mustapha Ndajiwo, Commissioner for Budget & Planning; Hajiya Hannatu Jibril, Commissioner for Education; and Hajiya Barrister Mairo Mamman Mann, Permanent Secretary representing the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs. The Commissioner for Information, Hajiya Binta Mamman, and Alhaji Ayuba Usman Katako, representing ALGON Niger State, also joined the event alongside various Local Government Chairmen.
The Mokwa intervention adds to Fidelity Bank’s track record of proactive community support. In recent months, the bank has provided food and sanitary items to victims of a fire incident in Taraba State and offered aid to survivors of the 2023 Zaria Central Mosque collapse.
