Ondo, Edo Police Launch Joint Operation to Flush Out Criminals Along Border Communities
The Ondo and Edo State Police Commands have commenced a joint clearance operation along the Ondo-Edo border corridor as part of efforts to dismantle criminal networks and improve security across border communities.
The operation, which began on August 19, 2026, is being led and supervised by the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, in collaboration with his Edo State counterpart, CP Patrick Daaor.
The exercise covers Ala, Ifon, Okelusi and other adjoining areas identified as potential criminal flashpoints. Tactical teams from both commands have been deployed for intelligence-led patrols, coordinated raids, surveillance and targeted operations against suspected criminal hideouts.
The police said the operation is aimed at disrupting the movement and activities of criminals who may be exploiting the border between the two states to evade security agencies and establish operational bases.
According to the Commands, the joint operation also forms part of broader efforts to strengthen inter-state security cooperation and prevent the infiltration of criminal elements into communities across Ondo and Edo states.
The initiative is in line with the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, which emphasises intelligence-driven policing, inter-Command collaboration, proactive crime prevention and sustained operations against criminal networks.
Speaking on the operation, CP Felix Ohagwu assured residents of the affected communities that the police would continue to take proactive measures to protect lives and property.
He urged residents, traditional and community leaders, as well as other stakeholders, to remain vigilant and provide credible and timely information that could assist security agencies in identifying and apprehending criminals.
The Ondo State Police Command said the operation would be sustained, with the ultimate objective of making the Ondo-Edo border corridor increasingly difficult for criminals to exploit while creating a safer environment for residents and legitimate economic activities.
