Governor Ademola Adeleke Re-Endorses President Tinubu For 2027 After Election Victory

Newslens NG reports that Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office in the 2027 presidential election.

Adeleke made the declaration shortly after securing re-election in the Osun State governorship election held on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

The governor, who contested under the Accord Party, expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for what he described as allowing democracy to prevail during the election.

Speaking in a video interview, Adeleke said Tinubu remained a “son of the state” before reaffirming his endorsement of the President for another term in 2027.

“At this point I must appreciate the President for a free and fair election. He is a son of this state and I hereby reaffirm my endorsement of him for a second term in the 2027 presidential election,” Adeleke said.

The governor’s renewed endorsement comes after he defeated his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bayo Oyebamiji, in the Osun governorship poll.

Adeleke polled 511,067 votes against Oyebamiji’s 444,815, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished third with 17,180 votes.

The development also comes amid reports of a disagreement between Adeleke and popular Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, over the governor’s support for Tinubu.

According to the report, Davido, who was involved in Adeleke’s campaign, had called on the governor to withdraw his support for Tinubu during the election.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu has congratulated Adeleke on his re-election, describing the outcome as a reflection of the will of the people of Osun State.

Tinubu also urged the governor to use his renewed mandate to unite the people of the state and focus on growth, stability and socio-economic development over the next four years.
