Adron Homes Refutes FIJ Report, Alleges Misrepresentation of Facts

Newslens NG reports that Real estate development firm Adron Homes & Properties Ltd. has issued a formal response to a recent publication by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), which alleged that the company failed to refund a client, Mr. Solomon Oludare Akinbo, after payment for a plot of land in Shimawa, Ogun State.
The report, published by FIJ on May 22, 2025, claimed that Mr. Akinbo paid in full for a plot at Treasure Park and Garden, Phase 2, but was denied a refund after opting out of the purchase.
In a detailed statement released, Adron Homes denied all allegations, describing the publication as “misleading, defamatory, and damaging.” The company criticized FIJ for allegedly failing to contact them for clarification before publishing the story.
“FIJ did not take the necessary steps to verify the claims made by Mr. Akinbo before going to press,” the statement reads. “This has resulted in a serious misrepresentation of facts.”
Adron Homes clarified that Mr. Akinbo was, in fact, provisionally allocated land following his expression of interest in constructing a building. The firm explained that its allocation policy requires clients to submit written notice of readiness to build before a permanent allocation is finalized— a procedure outlined in the sales contract signed by the client.
The company further stated that Mr. Akinbo had voluntarily requested Adron Homes to manage the building construction, selected a design, and was issued a Bill of Quantities (BOQ). It refuted claims of coercion, stating that clients are free to use any certified builder of their choice.
On the issue of refund, Adron Homes emphasized that a formal written request, along with the return of all original documents, is required before processing a refund. According to the firm, multiple reminders were sent to Mr. Akinbo and his legal representative, but they have yet to fulfill these contractual obligations.
The company rejected allegations of demanding additional payments and said such claims were “completely unfounded.”
Adron Homes expressed disappointment that its version of events was not included in the FIJ report, calling the omission a breach of ethical journalism.
In its concluding remarks, the company demanded the immediate removal of the article from FIJ’s platforms, along with a retraction, public apology, and a follow-up report that presents its side of the story.
“Adron Homes & Properties Ltd. remains committed to transparency, professionalism, and the highest standards of service,” the statement concluded.
FIJ had not responded to Adron Homes’ statement as of the time of filing this report.
