Oluko of Uko Celebrates First Eid El Kabir with Community, Offers Prayers for Peace and Prosperity

Newslens NG reports that in a historic and heartwarming celebration, the newly installed 14th Oluko of Uko, Nofiu Yemi Mohammed marked his first Eid El Kabir (Sallah) festival with the people of the Uko community, blending tradition, spirituality, and unity in a memorable event.
The Oluko, who ascended the throne earlier this year, joined residents in observing the Eid prayers and festivities, using the occasion to offer fervent prayers for the continued peace, development, and prosperity of the Uko kingdom. Addressing the gathering, he expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the gift of life, the strength of the community, and the opportunity to serve his people.
“May this sacred celebration renew our collective spirit and commitment to the progress of our beloved Uko,” the monarch declared. “I pray that Allah, in His infinite mercy, blesses our land with harmony, growth, and unbreakable unity.”
The celebration was attended by religious leaders, community elders, youth groups, and families, all coming together in a display of love and solidarity. Traditional drumming, cultural performances, and communal feasting marked the day, reinforcing the values of sacrifice, generosity, and compassion that lie at the heart of Eid El Kabir.
This year’s Sallah celebration, the first under the reign of the new Oluko, was widely seen as a symbol of renewed hope and leadership. Many residents expressed optimism about the future of the community under his guidance, praising his humility, spiritual leadership, and vision for progress.
