OLUKO OF UKO UNVEILS NEW SLOGAN “UKO DOTUN” – A SYMBOL OF RENEWAL, UNITY, AND PROGRESS
As the community prepares for his coronation in October, Oluko charges all sons and daughters of Uko to embrace peace, cultural values, and collective development
In a message to mark the beginning of a new month, the newly installed Oluko of Uko, His Royal Highness Oluko Nofiu Yemi Mohammed, has declared “UKO DOTUN” meaning A New Dawn for Uko as the official slogan of the Uko community under his reign. The monarch made this known during an exclusive interview with Danyang Newsletter, his official spokesperson platform.
Oluko Yemi Mohammed, who is the 14th Oluko of Uko, succeeds the revered Oluko Idris Balogun Umar. With a deep sense of purpose and duty, the new monarch declared that UKO DOTUN encapsulates the renewed spirit of transformation, cultural renaissance, and inclusive development that his leadership intends to usher in.
“The journey of UKO DOTUN is rooted in our cherished traditions and cultural heritage,” he said. “As a devout Muslim, I equally acknowledge the importance of our customs and values, which are the foundation of who we are as a people.”
He emphasized that progress in Uko can only be achieved through unity, peace, and collaborative efforts among all age groups from elders to youth. “If Uko must flourish, we must build stronger intergenerational bonds, where wisdom is passed down and fresh ideas are embraced,” he stated.
The Oluko acknowledged the contributions of distinguished sons and daughters of the community, both at home and in the diaspora. He called on all citizens to actively engage in communal activities, age group meetings, and local initiatives aimed at driving positive change in Uko.
“Uko is blessed with men and women of excellence. Their achievements are a reflection of our collective potential. Let us support one another, celebrate our diversity, and work together for the common good,” he added.
Looking ahead to his official coronation ceremony scheduled for October, the monarch urged all members of the community to rally behind the vision of UKO DOTUN. “This is not just about today . it is about the generations to come. What we do now will shape the legacy they inherit,” he said.
He concluded with prayers for peace and prosperity across Uko community, Ogbagi-Akoko, Ondo State, and the nation at large.
“May God bless Uko, bless Ogbagi Akoko, bless Ondo State, and bless Nigeria,” he prayed.
As Uko stands on the cusp of a new era, the spirit of UKO DOTUN is set to redefine the community’s future through unity, heritage, and shared responsibility.
