Nigeria Police Force Disowns Fake September 18 Training Date for Police Constable Recruits

Newslens NG reports that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has warned prospective Police Constable recruits and members of the public against a false publication circulating on social media directing successful candidates to report for training on September 18, 2026.

In a disclaimer, the Nigeria Police  Force said it had observed the circulation of the purported announcement, which was being presented as an official communication from the Nigeria Police Force.

However, the NPF categorically stated that the publication did not emanate from the Force and should be completely disregarded.

The police urged all prospective trainees to exercise caution and avoid relying on unverified messages, particularly those circulating across social media platforms and other unofficial channels.

According to the Force, authentic information regarding the ongoing recruitment and training exercise would be communicated only through the candidates’ respective recruitment portals and other official communication channels of the Nigeria Police Force.

“The Nigeria Police Force wishes to state that the said publication is not an official communication of the Force and should be disregarded,” the disclaimer stated.
The Force further advised prospective recruits to verify any information concerning their recruitment status, training dates and reporting arrangements through authorised platforms before taking any action.

It also appealed to members of the public to desist from circulating unverified information capable of creating confusion and misleading prospective recruits.
The warning comes amid growing concerns over the spread of fake recruitment-related messages online, with the police emphasising the need for candidates to remain vigilant and depend solely on official sources for credible updates.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to providing verified information on the recruitment and training exercise through appropriate official channels and urged the public to help curb the spread of misinformation.
