Former U.S. President Joe Biden Diagnosed with Aggressive Prostate Cancer

Newslens NG reports that former U.S. President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, according to an official statement from his office.
The announcement, made on Sunday, revealed that the 82-year-old underwent medical evaluation last week after experiencing persistent urinary symptoms. Follow-up examinations led to the discovery of a prostate nodule, and further testing confirmed a diagnosis of high-grade prostate cancer with a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5)—indicating a fast-growing and potentially aggressive tumor.
“Although this represents a more advanced form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which offers several effective treatment options,” the statement noted.
President Biden and his family are currently consulting with his medical team to explore the most suitable treatment path, which may include hormone therapy, radiation, or surgery. However, no specific plan has been confirmed at this time.
A Gleason score of 9, according to Cancer Research UK, signifies that the cancer cells are highly abnormal and have a strong likelihood of rapid growth and spread.
This development comes just months after Biden concluded his term in office in January. He has largely remained out of the public spotlight since then.
Since the announcement, an outpouring of support has emerged from across the political spectrum, with both supporters and critics extending well wishes as the former president faces what could be a challenging course of treatment.
