Globacom has announced significant enhancements to its national network infrastructure aimed at delivering faster internet speeds, wider coverage and an improved customer experience across Nigeria. The upgrades are driven by major spectrum acquisitions and expanded data capacity, reinforcing the company’s commitment to building a future-ready communications network that supports the country’s digital growth.

The improvements, which took effect at the beginning of the month, have already led to noticeable gains in broadband performance nationwide. With increased network capacity, Globacom can now handle higher volumes of data traffic at greater speeds, enabling uninterrupted video streaming, faster downloads, improved upload performance and clearer voice communication.

In addition to the expanded spectrum, the company is accelerating the deployment of physical infrastructure. Hundreds of new network sites are currently under construction across multiple locations, while thousands of LTE sites deployed this year are being reinforced to boost performance. Over the next 12 months, thousands of additional sites are scheduled for rollout to deepen broadband penetration and enhance indoor and outdoor connectivity in urban, semi-urban and rural areas.

A company representative noted, “These upgraded network resources are more than standalone improvements; they represent a nationwide transformation. Nigerians will experience stronger coverage, faster speeds and more consistent service quality wherever they live, work or travel.”

Globacom also confirmed the expansion of its fibre-optic backbone along key national routes to support the increased network capacity. This has been complemented by upgrades to backhaul systems, including advanced microwave technology and core network optimisation. These investments are designed to eliminate network congestion, resulting in more stable browsing, clearer voice quality and smoother digital experiences for millions of users.

As part of its sustainability strategy, Globacom is deploying hybrid battery power systems across several network sites. This environmentally friendly solution reduces dependence on diesel generators while improving network uptime and operational efficiency.

The company reiterated that customers will continue to benefit from competitive data and voice tariffs, loyalty rewards, tailored packages for youth and SMEs, and exclusive entertainment services via GloTV. Subscribers and prospective users are encouraged to leverage the enhanced network, which is expected to drive growth in education, business, entertainment, e-commerce and digital innovation nationwide.
