Speaking with Newslens, the convener of the Heroism of Erelu Ota, Mr Waliu Adeyeri, at the event yesterday, stated how the vision started “The vision started some few years back after reading several books about some historical plays. After I completed an historical play on oba Akitoye and his cousin Kosoko I found out that it’s going to be a disservice to me not to talk about my city ikorodu, that was what lead to this event “the Heroism of Erelu Ota” and ever since I’ve been thinking of what story to tell the world then I stumbled on the book of Princess Aderoju Ladega “Orunsen” so from that book I got to know about this legendary that kept resonating in me and thatnis what gave birth to “The Heroism of Erelu Ota ota”.

He gave a brief “May 1st, 2023 was the first edition of the play, the Heroism of Ereelu Ota to commemorate the international women’s day and here we are for the second production”.

“Erelu in a Yoruba setting means a female custodian of a certain goddess and ota is a goddess of the water so in combination it’s the custodian of water goddess”.

“We should expect more from this piece, because I wrote it for criticism and expect more rejoinder on it” He added.
