Dangote Refinery Dismisses Shutdown Claims, Reaffirms Steady Fuel Supply at N850 per Litre
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has strongly refuted circulating rumours of an operational shutdown, assuring Nigerians and market stakeholders that its production and distribution remain fully active.
In a statement issued by Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, the refinery categorically denied any suspension of truck loading or disruption in operations.
“The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is fully operational. There has been no shutdown, nor any suspension of truck loading activities,” the statement read.
The company clarified that the recent sale of Residual Catalytic Oil (RCO) was part of its routine commercial transactions, typically involving large parcel sales, hence the recent fuel oil tender.
Management further disclosed that the refinery continues to supply over 40 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) daily, alongside consistent deliveries of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel), despite contrary speculations.
“As the world’s largest single-train petroleum refinery, we operate with advanced predictive and preventive maintenance systems to ensure uninterrupted operations. Routine maintenance does not affect our overall supply,” the statement emphasised.
Addressing speculation about potential shortages and price hikes, the refinery threw down a challenge to sceptics:
> “We invite interested buyers to place immediate orders for up to 40 million litres of PMS and 15 million litres of AGO daily, for the next 90 days.”
Dangote Refinery reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and energy security, warning the public against rumours allegedly sponsored by individuals seeking to sabotage Nigeria’s energy independence through the importation of substandard fuel under false pretences.
