Nigeria Police Disowns Fake Release on Training of 50,000 Newly Recruited Constables

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has disowned a purported press release claiming that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, had directed the commencement of training for 50,000 newly recruited police constables.

The purported statement, which is currently circulating on social media and other platforms, bears the name and designation of the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, anipr.

However, the Nigeria Police Force has described the document as false, stressing that it was neither issued nor authorised by the Force.

In a disclaimer issued by the Police, members of the public, particularly candidates who participated in the ongoing police recruitment process, were urged to disregard the contents of the fake document.
The Force advised recruitment candidates to rely strictly on information published through the official Police recruitment portal and verified communication channels of the Nigeria Police Force for authentic updates regarding the recruitment exercise, training allocation and resumption dates.

The Police further disclosed that efforts are ongoing to identify the individuals responsible for producing and circulating the fake document. According to the Force, appropriate legal action will be taken against anyone found culpable.

The development comes amid heightened public interest in the ongoing Nigeria Police recruitment exercise, with candidates advised to exercise caution and avoid relying on unverified messages or documents circulating online.

The Nigeria Police Force urged members of the public to always verify recruitment-related information through official channels before taking any action.
