AIG Ajani Omolabi Bows Out After 35 Years of Service, Receives Glowing Encomiums
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 17, Akure, AIG Ajani Musibau Omolabi, psc(+), has bowed out of the Nigeria Police Force after 35 years of dedicated and meritorious service.
The retiring AIG was celebrated at a colourful pulling-out ceremony held at the Police Arcade, Akure, Ondo State, where senior police officers, serving and retired personnel, government officials, heads of sister security agencies, traditional rulers, members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), friends and well-wishers gathered to honour his remarkable career.
Omolabi, who was until his retirement in charge of Zone 17 comprising Ondo and Ekiti States, formally ended his active police service after three and a half decades devoted to the protection of lives and property, maintenance of law and order and the advancement of national security.
The ceremony featured a series of colourful military-style activities, including the inspection of the parade by the retiring AIG, a march-past by officers and men of the Force and the symbolic pulling-out parade.
The parade, conducted with precision and discipline, provided a fitting ceremonial farewell to the senior police officer and marked the formal end of his career in the Nigeria Police Force.
In his valedictory address, Omolabi expressed gratitude to God for giving him the grace to complete 35 years in service and retire in good health.
He described his retirement as a blessing and privilege, particularly the opportunity to leave the Force honourably without being incapacitated by illness or cut short by death.
The retiring AIG urged serving police officers to uphold professionalism, discipline and integrity in the discharge of their duties, warning against corruption and other forms of misconduct.
He stressed the need for accountability within the Force, saying officers found culpable of corrupt practices should face the full weight of the law in order to preserve public confidence in the police.
Omolabi also appealed to members of the media to maintain objectivity, fairness and balance in reporting police activities.
According to him, the media has an important role to play in informing the public, promoting mutual understanding and strengthening the relationship between the Police and the communities they serve.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, psc, mnips, mspsp, congratulated Omolabi on the successful completion of his 35 years of service.
Ohagwu commended the retiring AIG for his dedication and contributions to the Nigeria Police Force, while wishing him a peaceful, healthy and fulfilling retirement.
The CP also reaffirmed the commitment of the Ondo State Police Command to sustaining its fight against crime through proactive policing, intelligence-led operations, professionalism and collaboration with sister security agencies and members of the public.
He assured residents of the state that the Command would continue to strengthen its security strategies towards protecting lives and property across Ondo State.
The pulling-out parade therefore served as more than a ceremonial farewell, as it provided an opportunity for colleagues, friends and stakeholders to celebrate a career built around service, discipline, sacrifice, integrity and commitment to national security.
The Ondo State Police Command congratulated AIG Ajani Musibau Omolabi on his successful retirement and wished him good health, peace, happiness and fulfilment in his post-service life.
