CP ADEBOWALE LAWAL CONDUCTS OPERATIONAL ASSESSMENT OF LAGOS–ORE–BENIN EXPRESSWAY.
….ISSUES DIRECTIVES TO OPERATIVES
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, on Friday, 20th December 2025, conducted an on-the-spot operational assessment of security arrangements along the Lagos–Ore–Benin Expressway corridor as part of efforts to strengthen safety and security during the festive period.
The assessment visit was carried out in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, inter-agency coordination, and proactive policing across commands and formations nationwide.
During the exercise, CP Lawal commended the effective collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), noting that the strategic deployment of FRSC personnel has significantly improved traffic control and road safety along the corridor. He also praised the Nigeria Customs Service for its support in ensuring the smooth flow of traffic through the removal of barriers and other obstructions that could hinder motorists.
Addressing members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ondo State Chapter, the Commissioner of Police urged them to remain law-abiding, exercise patience on the roads, and avoid reckless driving. He further cautioned against driving under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances, stressing the grave dangers such actions pose to lives and property.
The CP also engaged with officers and men deployed along the expressway, charging them to uphold professionalism, diligence, and discipline in the discharge of their duties. He issued firm directives to the Area Commander to deploy additional personnel to the corridor, ensure the immediate clearance of all obstructions, and intensify supervision of field operatives. Similarly, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) within metropolitan areas were directed to sustain regular patrols, maintain visible policing, and remove any impediments capable of disrupting traffic flow.
The Ondo State Police Command expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for his strategic leadership and continued support, particularly through ongoing reforms and technological initiatives designed to strengthen intelligence-led, responsive, and effective policing across the country.
In his concluding remarks, CP Adebowale Lawal assured residents and commuters of adequate security arrangements along the Lagos–Ore–Benin Expressway and across the state. He emphasized that Area Commanders, Tactical Team Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and their personnel have been fully deployed on both overt and covert operations to ensure the safety and security of road users throughout the yuletide season.
