Toyin Abraham Explains Why She Rejected APC Campaign Council Appointment

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has explained why she rejected her inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Abraham said her decision was not influenced by pressure or bullying, but followed her discovery that her name had been included in the campaign council’s list without her prior knowledge.

The actress made this known in a post on X while responding to a user who suggested that her decision to reject the appointment could help shield her from further bullying.

Abraham said she rejected the reported appointment because she believed it was the right thing to do, adding that she had already made her position on political involvement clear.

“I didn’t do it because of any bully. I did it because it was the right thing to do. I woke up and saw my name on a list I knew absolutely nothing about. Moreover, I’ve already said it, I’m not interested in politics,” she stated.

Her reaction followed the release of the Lagos APC campaign structure, in which her name appeared under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate alongside several other prominent entertainers.

However, Abraham had earlier taken to her Instagram Story to publicly distance herself from the campaign council, stating that she was not a member of any campaign committee and urging the public to disregard her reported inclusion.

The development comes against the backdrop of Abraham’s public political involvement during the 2023 presidential election, when she campaigned in support of President Bola Tinubu.

The actress subsequently faced significant criticism on social media over her political stance. Her latest comments, however, indicate that she intends to remain outside active political campaigning ahead of the 2027 elections.

Despite her rejection, her name reportedly remained on the published list of members of the 33-person Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
