Reports from the Ikirun community, the headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State reveal that part of the palace was razed down by fire as the obaship tussle in the area took another dimension.

The crisis is said to be caused by the recent appointment of Oba Yinusa Akadiri as the new monarch by the Osun State Government.

Reports have it that Akadiri’s appointment as the Akinrun by the Osun State Government did not have the support of the majority of the town’s people including chiefs and the head of kingmakers.

Therefore, when the new Oba allegedly led other persons to the town to gain access to the palace, access was denied to him by aggrieved members of other ruling houses.

Naija News gathered that the aggrieved ruling houses mobilized and shut the palace with charms to prevent the new king from accessing it.

However, security operatives, including Policemen, stormed the palace to force their way to the premises this morning and that caused a clash between youths of the aggrieved ruling families and the security operatives.

The late king was reportedly a descendant of the Gboleru Ruling House, one of the ruling houses fighting to fill the royal stool before it was passed on to the Obaara Ruling House via an Osun High Court ruling.

Naija News also gathered that Prince Tajudeen Gboleru told Nation that “My brother was killed during a fight in front of the palace this morning. He led some youths to the palace when he heard that they want to enter the palace, there was a brawl and one of the policemen shot him dead.”
