The event will be chaired by Chief Tunde Fanimokun, a distinguished civil servant and philanthropist who served as Permanent Secretary during Jakande’s administration in Lagos State.
The roundtable promises to be an enriching forum for knowledge sharing, critical discourse, and networking among media professionals, academics, students, and key stakeholders. Discussions will spotlight Jakande’s legacy, the evolving dynamics of journalism in the digital era, and the imperative of sustaining ethical and impactful reporting.
Professor Oluwole Alabi, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, described the roundtable as both a fitting tribute and a timely call to action.
“This is more than a memorial, it’s an invitation for media practitioners and scholars to reaffirm the values of integrity, excellence, and public service that Alhaji Jakande embodied,” he stated.
Similarly, Dr. Steven Anu’ Adesemoye, Head of the Mass Communication Department, emphasized the department’s dedication to shaping the future of journalism and media education.
“The LKJ Media Roundtable reflects our commitment to nurturing ethical, innovative, and socially responsible media professionals. Alhaji Jakande’s legacy guides our mission to equip students with the tools to impact society positively,” he remarked.
The Lateef Jakande Memorial Media Roundtable reinforces LASUSTECH’s pursuit of academic excellence and industry collaboration, while honoring the legacy of one of Nigeria’s most revered statesmen. The event is open to the public, with invitations extended to media professionals, academics, students, and members of the general public.
