Former Speaker and new Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, has tendered his resignation as a lawmaker on the floor of the House of Representatives today.

It was gathered that the former Speaker will has Stepped down, so as to be able to focus on the task of serving as Chief of Staff to the president

Concerns had emerged as to how he was going to manage both roles given that the former Speaker had been inaugurated alongside his colleagues on Tuesday and had voted as well for the leadership of the House.

Following his resignation, Reps Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, declared Surulere 1 Federal Constituency Seat Vacant.

Meanwhile, INEC will need to conduct a fresh election to fill the role.
