INEC cancelled Senatorial Results In Abuja Due To Over-Voting

The senatorial results from Abaji and Bwari area councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have been cancelled.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation officer in charge of senatorial results in the FCT, Prof. Sani Saka disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja on Monday, citing over-voting as the reason for the decision.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the total number of accredited voters was 21,473, while the number of vote cast stood at 21,903.

He said; “The total number of valid voters cast is more than the number of accredited votes, we are cancelling this result for overvoting.

“It is the INEC that will tell you or decide what to do with the result of Abaji, whether there is going to be another election or not.”

The agents of political parties had raised eyebrows when a party, African Democratic Party (ADP) that had no business in the election, because the party had no candidate, appeared on the ballot papers and was even given a vote, then came the issue of over voting, leading to the cancellation.

The same issue of over-voting led to the cancellation of results from the Bwari area council too, the candidate of the Labour Party had garnered 56913 from the Bwari area council, while those of the ruling APC and the main opposition party PDP got 13807 and 19561 respectively
