The Institute for Governance and Leadership Studies in Africa has congratulated Mr. Kayode Egbetokun on his appointment as a Deputy Inspector General of Police. In a Release signed by the Director General of the Organisation, Dr. Lanre Adebayo, the Institute described the promotion as deserving, adding that Mr Egbetokun has always been an outstanding Police Officer, an exemplary leader, and a great Nigerian. His tour of duty had taken him to difficult and very challenging assignments and he has always excelled. He represents the best in global policing in general and the Nigerian Police in particular, the Release stated. The Institute also congratulated both the Inspector General of Police and the Police Service Commission for rewarding an exemplary officer, adding that this would be an incentive to other hardworking and ethical officers in the Police Force. The Institute further said that it was encouraged by the merit-based promotion of a deserving officer as demonstrated in this case. It urged the Police Authorities to institutionalize this model as part of sustainable reform of the system which has the cumulative potential of improving the quality of policing and consequent reduction in crimes and criminality.
