Fidelity Bank Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to community safety and sustainable environmental practices with the donation of critical firefighting and fire-prevention equipment, including fire hoses and gasoline-powered water pumps, to the Ikoyi Fire Service Station, Lagos.

The donation was executed under the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme (FHHP) by the Bank’s True Serve Team. The FHHP is a staff-driven initiative through which employees identify pressing community needs, mobilize funds, and receive matching financial support from the Bank to implement impactful projects. This initiative underscores Fidelity Bank’s long-standing commitment to environmental protection and public safety.
Speaking on the significance of the donation, the Divisional Head, Brand and Communications Division, Fidelity Bank Plc, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, stated that the gesture reflects the Bank’s dedication to enhancing emergency response capacity and safeguarding lives and property within its host communities.

According to him, “Fidelity Bank remains steadfast in supporting initiatives that promote the protection of lives, property, and the environment. We view community safety as a collective responsibility and will continue to partner with institutions and individuals to strengthen public safety mechanisms.”
Dr. Nwagboh further emphasized the importance of proactive safety measures, noting that “Preventive actions are far more effective than reactionary responses. This donation forms part of our broader drive to promote sustainable practices by equipping first responders with essential tools. Our overarching goal is to enable people to live meaningful, safe, and empowered lives.”

In her remarks, the Lagos State Controller, Federal Fire Service and Controller of Fire (CF), Mrs. Funke Adebayo, commended Fidelity Bank for the timely intervention, particularly as the festive season approaches amid dry and high-risk weather conditions.
“We sincerely appreciate Fidelity Bank for this thoughtful and timely support. This period is characterized by harsh weather conditions, during which fire outbreaks can spread rapidly. Parents must caution children against the use of fireworks during celebrations, as fire should never be handled carelessly,” she said.

He urged households, business owners, and community members to prioritize fire safety at all times.
