Drama as Fast rising Nigerian Singer Tems conducts praise and worship inside Ugandan prison (video)

Muyiwa Awoniyi, the manager of award-winning Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi aka Tems, has recalled her memorable experience in a Ugandan prison.

In December 2020 that Tems and her colleague, Omah Lay were arrested in Uganda over violation of the country’s COVID-19 laws.

The duo spent three days in detention, first in a police cell and were later transferred to separate prisons after their arraignment in Kampala.

Awoniyi said that while Tems was in the female prison, she conducted praise and worship in the entire correctional facility and all the inmates participated.

Speaking during a podcast, he said everybody including the guards were singing along while the songstress led the sessions for the duration of her detention.

Meanwhile, the Uganda police force released Tems and Omah Lay after three days after saying earlier that plans of releasing them on police bond were suspended after the Office of the DPP sanctioned their case file.

They were arrested after performing at The Big Brunch concert which held in Speke Resort, Wavamunno Road, Kampala, Uganda in December 2020.

Assistant Superintendent of Police and Deputy Police Spokesperson, Kampala Metropolitan Police, Luk Owoyesigyire, said in a tweet; “Katwe police have arrested Nigerian Artist Omah Lay, the manager of the venue one Dungu Ivan and the Events manager Prim Kasana are also in custody.

“Temilade Openiyi Aka Ms Tems (Artist) also been arrested with her manager Muyiwa Awomiyi.”

Nigerian celebrities like Fireboy DML, Wizkid, Davido and Laycon, had called for their release using the hashtag #FreeOmahLay #FreeTems.
