President Tinubu Celebrates Oluremi, Recalls Years of Love, Sacrifice and Partnership
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated his wife, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on her 66th birthday, describing her as his “truest friend and confidante” and praising her for standing by him through difficult and uncertain moments.
The President, in a heartfelt birthday message issued on Monday, September 21, 2026, reflected on their years together, highlighting his wife’s patience, courage, honesty, prayers and counsel.
Tinubu addressed the First Lady affectionately as “Oluremi mi” and said she had remained a source of strength throughout their journey together.
According to him, Oluremi had not only shared in his successes but had also carried some of the burdens associated with difficult decisions and challenging periods.
He said, “In difficult times, when the future was uncertain, you stayed calm beside me and prayed with me.”
The President further described the First Lady as someone who often understood his concerns before he expressed them, adding that her presence had sometimes provided the counsel he needed.
Tinubu particularly praised her honesty, saying she had never hesitated to tell him difficult truths, even when he would rather not hear them.
“I call you my truest friend and confidante because you speak the truth plainly, even on the days I would rather not hear it,” he said.
The President also commended Oluremi for her devotion to their family, noting that their children and grandchildren had grown under the influence of her prayers, faith and values of kindness.
Beyond the family, Tinubu highlighted the First Lady’s humanitarian activities, recalling her work through the New Era Foundation and the Renewed Hope Initiative.
He said her interventions had touched the lives of young people, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers across the country, while also noting her advocacy for people affected by tuberculosis and other diseases.
Tinubu said Oluremi’s compassion had extended beyond ethnic, regional and religious boundaries, describing her as someone who had consistently offered support to people in need.
Reflecting on their years together, the President said their shared experiences had strengthened their relationship, particularly the difficult decisions, sacrifices, laughter and prayers they had experienced.
He then made a personal declaration that he would make the same choice if given another opportunity to begin their journey.
“If life returned me to the beginning, I would choose the same road that led me to you. Through every mile, my heart has always remained at home with you,” Tinubu said.
The President expressed gratitude for the life they had built together and prayed for many more years of good health and happiness for the First Lady.
“Happy 66th birthday, my darling Oluremi. I pray that God Almighty will grant you many more years in good health and joy,” he said.
He also wished her continued comfort and happiness, saying she deserved the same joy she had given to him and many others.
The State House confirmed that the birthday message was issued in honour of Senator Oluremi Tinubu as she marked her 66th birthday on September 21, 2026.
