Aare Adetola Emmanuelking Pays Tribute to the Late Awujale of Ijebuland
The Group Chairman of Adron Group, Sir Aare Adetola Emmanuelking KOF, has mourned the passing of the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, describing his transition as the end of an era and the ascent of a legend into immortality.
In a deeply reflective and heartfelt statement, Aare Emmanuelking celebrated the late monarch as an enduring symbol of identity, unity, and pride for the Ijebu people and the Yoruba nation at large.
Oba Adetona, who passed on at the age of 91 after an extraordinary 65-year reign, is revered as one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning monarchs. Aare Emmanuelking noted that the significance of his reign went beyond its historic length — it was defined by transformative cultural, social, and economic advancements that shaped Ijebuland’s modern identity.
“His Royal Majesty ruled not just by the sceptre, but through vision, intellect, and an unassailable integrity,” Aare Emmanuelking remarked. “He represented royalty not as a relic of history, but as a dynamic force that shaped the present and built the foundations for the future.”
Reflecting on the monarch’s towering legacy, Aare Emmanuelking highlighted Oba Adetona’s role as a guardian of tradition, a voice of reason during national trials, and a generational bridge that connected the past with the future. “He was not merely a king, but a colossus — a living oracle whose wisdom moved minds and stirred destinies,” he added.
He further acknowledged the evolution of Ijebuland under the monarch’s stewardship, transforming it into a hub of cultural pride, economic vitality, and progressive unity. “To be Ijebu was to be proud. To serve Ijebu was an honour. To have lived under his reign was to witness greatness personified,” he said.
Aare Emmanuelking extended his deepest condolences to the royal family and the people of Ijebuland, urging them to stand tall in pride, having been privileged to be led by such a distinguished ruler. “Now the lion sleeps, but his roar shall echo through eternity,” he affirmed.
He offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the monarch’s soul and for his enduring legacy to continue inspiring future generations.
While the passing of HRM Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona closes a significant chapter in Yoruba history, Aare Adetola Emmanuelking reminded all that the brilliance of his legacy will forever light the path ahead.
