Osun Election: Soldiers Bar Davido From Entering Osun State, Singer Raises Alarm

Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has alleged that he was barred from entering Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

Davido, who is the nephew of incumbent Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, raised the alarm after reportedly receiving information that security operatives had been instructed to prevent him from gaining access to the state ahead of the election.

The singer took to social media to express his displeasure over the alleged restriction, insisting that he has a constitutional right to move freely within the country.

According to Davido, “I’ve been reliably informed that soldiers are trying to prevent me from entering Osun tomorrow. This won’t happen. Every citizen of Nigeria has the right to movement at any point in time.”

The development comes amid heightened security arrangements across Osun State as security agencies prepare for the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Davido has been a prominent supporter of Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid and has actively campaigned for his uncle ahead of the poll. His alleged restriction from entering the state has therefore generated reactions, particularly given his prominent role in the governor’s campaign.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from the Nigerian Army or other relevant security authorities confirming the alleged directive to prevent Davido from entering Osun State.
