Tinubu Approves Recruitment of 3,252 Teachers into Federal Civil Service

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the commencement of the recruitment of 3,252 verified Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) teachers into the Federal Civil Service in a move aimed at addressing the shortage of teachers in Federal Unity Colleges and Federal Technical Colleges across the country.

The approval was announced by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, who disclosed that the exercise followed the successful verification of thousands of PTA teachers who have served in federal schools, some for nearly 25 years without permanent appointments.

According to the minister, an inter-ministerial committee conducted a comprehensive screening exercise, producing a verified list of 3,252 eligible teachers across three cadres for absorption into the Federal Civil Service.

Alausa explained that the decision is expected to strengthen the education sector by retaining experienced teachers, preserving institutional knowledge, and improving learning outcomes in Federal Unity Colleges and Federal Technical Colleges nationwide.

He described the development as part of the Tinubu administration’s broader efforts to reposition public education and improve the quality of teaching under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The minister also noted that the regularisation of the teachers’ appointments would provide long-awaited job security for thousands of educators who had served the nation’s colleges under PTA arrangements for many years.

The Federal Government expressed optimism that the recruitment exercise would help bridge staffing gaps in public secondary schools while enhancing academic standards across federal institutions.
