Ondo Police Arrest Three Suspected Drug Dealers, Recover Cannabis, Tramadol, Codeine

Newslens NG reports that the Ondo State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on illicit drug trafficking with the arrest of three suspected drug dealers and the recovery of suspected hard drugs during a routine patrol operation in Akure, the state capital.

The suspects, identified as Fisayo Adedamola (female), Adeola Oluwaseun (male), and Adeogun Olumide (male), were apprehended by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Cultism Squad on July 24, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m. while carrying out a strategic confidence-building patrol within the Akure metropolis.

According to the Police, the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks involved in illicit drug trafficking, cultism, armed robbery, and other violent crimes across the state.

A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of several substances and pharmaceutical products suspected to be illicit or abused drugs, including quantities of suspected cannabis, Tramadol capsules, Codeine syrup, and Tutolin syrup.

The suspects were immediately taken into custody, while the recovered exhibits have been secured for further investigation.

Police authorities disclosed that preliminary investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the suspected drugs, identify other members of the syndicate, and uncover any criminal network linked to the suspects. They will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Reacting to the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, psc, mnips, mspsp, reaffirmed the Command’s determination to rid Ondo State of illicit drug traffickers and other criminal elements.

He noted that drug abuse and trafficking remain major enablers of violent crimes, including cultism, armed robbery, and other criminal activities, stressing that the Command would continue to intensify intelligence-led operations against individuals and syndicates involved in the illegal drug trade.

The police boss also called on parents, guardians, community leaders, and members of the public to support law enforcement agencies by providing credible and timely information that would aid the identification and arrest of drug traffickers and other criminals.

He assured residents that the Ondo State Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property through proactive policing, intelligence-driven operations, and sustained collaboration with the public, warning criminal elements to desist from unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law.
