Tinubu Unveils APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, Names Yari As DG

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has constituted the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the January 2027 general elections, with former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, appointed as Director-General.

The composition of the council was announced on Saturday in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. Tinubu will serve as Chairman, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as Vice Chairmen.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was appointed Secretary of the council, while APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman were named Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.

The council’s advisory team comprises former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; veteran politician, Chief Segun Osoba; former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha; former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.

Also appointed as Deputy Directors-General are Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, who will oversee campaign activities across the southern and northern regions alongside Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau.

Former Edo State Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, will oversee mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, will serve as Deputy Director-General for Administration. James Faleke, who played a key role in the 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.

The campaign’s media and strategic communication structure will be coordinated by Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu. Dele Alake will also lead a five-member team of presidential campaign spokespersons.

Tinubu charged members of the campaign council to work towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 presidential election. He also urged the various directorates to engage other party members who may not have been formally listed but are willing to contribute to the campaign.

The President said the campaign would highlight his administration’s achievements and present its economic policies and programmes to Nigerians as the party seeks another term in office.

The unveiling of the campaign council formally sets up the APC’s campaign machinery as preparations intensify for the 2027 presidential contest.
