Newslens NG reports that Several players of Nigeria’s Super Falcons have reportedly fallen victim to a theft incident at their team hotel in Casablanca, Morocco, just days before the commencement of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The players, who are lodged at the Marriott Hotel as part of their final preparations for the continental tournament, alleged that cash was stolen from their wallets while they were away from their rooms.

Reports indicate that the players discovered the missing cash after returning to their hotel rooms and promptly raised the matter with the hotel management. One of the affected players, Esther Okoronkwo, reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the response she received from hotel officials, alleging that housekeeping staff may have been responsible for the theft.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) nor the management of the Marriott Hotel has issued an official statement on the incident or confirmed whether a formal investigation has commenced.
The unfortunate development comes at a crucial time for the Super Falcons as they intensify preparations for the 2026 WAFCON, which kicks off in Morocco on Sunday.
Nigeria, Africa’s most successful women’s national team and defending champions, have been drawn in Group C alongside Zambia, Egypt and Malawi. The team is expected to relocate to Rabat for its group-stage matches as it seeks to retain its continental crown and secure qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
