Kano Governor blocks salaries of 10,000 workers employed by Ganduje

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state has stopped the salaries of 10,800 workers employed by the immediate past administration of Abdullahi Ganduje.

He ordered the State’s Accountant General, Abdulkadir Abdusalam, to also remove the affected workers from the state’s payroll.

Abdulsalam made this known while addressing journalists on Monday, June 26 in Kano.

Before assumption of office, the governor had accused Ganduje of illegally employing over 10,000 workers when it was about leaving office.

The Accountant-General further stated that his office would carry out an investigation to find out the genuineness of their engagement and procedures so as to remove those illegally recruited.

Concerning local government workers in the state, he disclosed that those who were converted to state workers by the former administration would continue receiving their salaries.

However, he said it would be based on local government levels, asking them to continue working in their new state’s MDAs until the investigation is concluded.
