The prestigious event was held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The recognition underscores Union Bank’s efforts to promote gender diversity and inclusion across its workplace and wider financial ecosystem, particularly through initiatives designed to empower women, female entrepreneurs and professionals.
According to the bank, its gender inclusion efforts include tailored financial products, capacity-building programmes, mentorship opportunities, networking platforms and initiatives aimed at expanding economic opportunities for women.
Themed “Grow, Give, Glow: Building Resilience for Distinction,” WIMCA 2026 brought together leading female marketing and communications professionals from across Africa to discuss industry trends, leadership, resilience and the advancement of women within the marketing and communications ecosystem.
The event also recognised Mrs. Olufunmilola Aluko, Union Bank’s Chief Brand and Marketing Officer, as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Marketing and Communications.
Reacting to the recognitions, Aluko described the awards as a validation of Union Bank’s continued commitment to gender inclusion and the advancement of women.

“This honour further strengthens our resolve to create greater opportunities for women across our workplace, customer base, and wider society,” she said.
WIMCA was established by Brand Communicator, a Nigerian brand and marketing magazine, as a platform for recognising female excellence and amplifying women’s leadership and participation in the brand, marketing and communications industry.
The 2026 edition attracted prominent industry professionals and brand executives who gathered to celebrate achievements while examining strategies for building resilient and impactful careers in the sector.
