Nathaniel Bassey, Mercy Chinwo, star on Glo-sponsored African Voices

Glo-sponsored African Voices Changemakers on Cable News Network (CNN) International  will this weekend feature two of Nigeria’s wave making gospel artistes, Nathaniel Bassey and Mercy Chinwo.

The 30-minute presentation hosted by Larry Madowo will feature thrilling moments from the two acts. It will first air on Saturday at 8.30 a.m. on DSTV Channel 401.

Mercy Chinwo’s vocals, stage presence, and charisma captivate her followers, while Bassey’s musical skills are attracting large crowds both in person and virtually, particularly with The Halleluiah Challenge. Bassey, who was born in Akwa Ibom State on August 27, 1981, is a Nigerian singer, trumpet player, and gospel songwriter who is well-known for his songs “Yahweh Sabaoth,” “Ebenezer,” “Tobechukwu,” “Imela,” “Onise Iyanu,” and “Olowogbogboro.”

He attended the University of Lagos to study Politics and International Affairs before relocating to London to attend the Middlesex University Summer School in the United Kingdom to study Politics and then Music.

Bassey, who is well-known for his humility, has become one of Nigeria’s most well-known and well-listened gospel music preachers. His music spans a variety of genres, including hymns, medley, jazz, and praise. He serves as the pastor of the King’s Court branch of The Redeemed Christian Church of God on Victoria Island in Lagos.

Born on September 5, 1991, Mercy Nnenda Chinwo-Blessed, singer, actress, and songwriter, began her church music career at the age of six. She penned a recording deal with EeZee Conceptz in 2017, and in 2018 she dropped her debut track, “Excess Love.” She graduated from the International Business Management Institute (IBMI) with a degree in Human Resources Management. She is a winner of several awards, including the AFRIMMA Awards’ Gospel Artiste of the Year title in 2020. She also won the Africa Gospel Music of the year, CLIMA Africa Award 2022, among others.

The programme will air on Saturday at 8.30 a.m. with a repeat the same day at noon.  On Sunday, two more repeats will be shown at 4.30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on Monday at 4 a.m. The same broadcast subsists next week.
