CP Felix Ohagwu Visits Igbokoda Aircraft Crash Site, Commiserates with NAF, Families of Victims

Newslens NG reports that the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, psc, mnips, mspsp, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, visited the scene of the Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash at Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.

The visit followed the tragic crash, which occurred on Monday, October 5, 2026, involving an aircraft reportedly carrying 25 persons. The Commissioner’s visit was aimed at assessing the situation firsthand and reviewing the ongoing recovery, security and emergency response operations at the crash site.

During the visit, CP Ohagwu expressed his profound condolences to the Nigerian Air Force and the families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident. He described the crash as a deeply tragic occurrence and assured the affected families and residents of the Command’s support throughout the ongoing response.

The Commissioner disclosed that the Ondo State Police Command was working closely with relevant security and emergency response agencies to support the recovery operation and facilitate efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.

He appealed to residents of Igbokoda and the people of Ondo State to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities as recovery and investigative operations continue. He also urged members of the public to refrain from sharing unverified information, warning that such reports could create unnecessary panic and confusion.

According to him, police personnel, including officers of the Marine Police, have been deployed to the crash site to provide security and support the ongoing operations. He noted that the recovery of victims and aircraft debris was still ongoing at the time of the visit.

CP Ohagwu assured members of the public that verified information would be communicated through appropriate official channels as the recovery and investigative processes progress.

The Ondo State Police Command once again commiserated with the Nigerian Air Force, the families of the deceased and all those affected by the tragedy, reaffirming its commitment to supporting relevant agencies in ensuring a coordinated response and a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
