Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba, has revealed why African teams are struggling in the 2022 World Cup, following their recent performance in their opening games.
No African side has ever advanced to the final in the history of the FIFA World Cup, despite earlier appearances in the last eight by Senegal, Cameroon, and Ghana.

At the Qatar World Cup in 2022, three of the five African countries have had difficulty scoring any goals.

The current African champions Senegal were, however, defeated 2-0 by the Netherlands, The Cameroonians lost 1 nil to Switzerland, and Croatia were held to a goalless draw by Morocco.

Drogba said that when the players are all together in the national teams, coaches have a hard time figuring out the best system, according to the article on Kickoff.

Noting that the same African players perform way better in their respective clubs abroad.

The former international from the Ivory Coast made this known in a statement where he claimed that; ‘It is very difficult for African teams because you’ve got individuals.

“They are very good in their clubs especially those playing in Europe,” he continued.

“But when they come together, it becomes more difficult for the manager to find the right system.

”To play the right guys at the right position, to keep that intensity that is required when you play at that kind of level,” said the Ivorian.
