Ondo Police Takes Policing Beyond Uniform, Launch Massive Community Outreach for 2026 Police Day
The Ondo State Police Command has flagged off activities marking the 2026 National Police Day with a series of community-driven initiatives, including environmental sanitation and a free medical outreach.
The event, which commenced on Monday, March 30, 2026, follows the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and is themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust.”
As part of the activities, police officers carried out sanitation exercises at strategic locations such as Arakale Market and NEPA Junction, reflecting the Command’s commitment to promoting a clean and safe environment.
The Command also organised a free medical outreach for residents, offering consultations, basic healthcare services, and professional health advice. Beneficiaries turned out in numbers to take advantage of the initiative.
Speaking during the flag-off, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Adebowale Lawal, said the programme was designed to strengthen police-community relations and showcase the humanitarian aspect of policing.
He reiterated the Command’s dedication to fostering public trust, enhancing community engagement, and delivering people-focused policing services.
Also in attendance, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 17, AIG Ajani Musbau, encouraged residents to maximise the opportunity provided by the outreach and continue to support the Police in maintaining peace and security.
The Command urged members of the public to provide timely and credible information to security agencies and to actively participate in initiatives that promote mutual trust and public safety.
Activities lined up for the celebration will run throughout the week, with a grand finale scheduled for April 7, 2026.
