Glo Enhances Network Capacity to Elevate Customer Experience

Published

on

Globacom has intensified its nationwide network enhancement projects aimed at delivering a significantly improved service experience for its subscribers. These ongoing upgrades are part of the company’s proactive response to ensure customers continue to enjoy exceptional value, especially in the wake of recent tariff adjustments.

The enhancement initiative includes the large-scale deployment of new base stations to extend coverage to underserved areas and reinforce existing infrastructure in densely populated regions. This strategic expansion is expected to elevate the quality of both voice and data services across the country.

As part of a major investment drive, Globacom is also rerouting sections of its fibre-optic network that have been affected by road construction activities. Key routes impacted include Auchi-Okene, Benin-Ekpoma, Lafia-Akwanga, Minna-Abuja, and Funtua-Gusau. “We have undertaken the costly relocation of these fibre cables—many of which were damaged or vandalized during poorly coordinated roadworks—to ensure uninterrupted, world-class service delivery to our customers,” the company stated.

With the deployment of hundreds of new sites underway and thousands of 4G LTE sites already activated this year in major cities, Glo is positioning itself for a stronger, more reliable network footprint. These advancements are complemented by robust backhaul upgrades using both microwave and fibre technologies, alongside enhancements to the core network architecture.

Globacom assured its subscribers that these efforts will result in better coverage, faster data speeds, improved call quality, and an overall superior user experience. In the coming year, the company plans to roll out over a thousand additional sites, with a strong focus on LTE expansion and the extension of fibre connectivity to more hub locations.

In addition, the company is deepening its commitment to environmental sustainability by increasing the deployment of hybrid power systems and relying more on battery-powered solutions at its sites—an initiative that also represents a major financial investment.

However, Glo continues to raise concerns over the persistent vandalism and sabotage of its network infrastructure, despite its classification as critical national infrastructure. The company calls for stronger protective measures to safeguard its assets and ensure consistent service delivery.
