2027: Great Joshua MacIver Declares Governorship Ambition, Pledges ₦70m Monthly to PDP

The political landscape in Bayelsa State is beginning to take shape ahead of the 2027 governorship election, as Great Joshua MacIver has formally communicated his intention to seek the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a letter addressed to the Bayelsa State PDP Chairman and the State Working Committee (SWC), MacIver made his intention to contest public.

A significant part of MacIver’s message was his emphasis on competence, experience, commitment, transparency and the welfare of the people, rather than on zoning.

“I firmly believe that the people of Bayelsa State deserve a leader who prioritises effectiveness, the welfare of our people, and the development of our State,” he stated.

To further contribute to the rebuilding and repositioning of the PDP in the State, Great Joshua MacIver committed to donating ₦70 million monthly to the party starting from August 2026.
