Ondo Police Command, Nigerian Army, NDLEA Deepen Security Alliance Against Crime, Drug Abuse

The Ondo State Police Command has strengthened its security partnership with the Nigerian Army and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) as part of renewed efforts to tackle crime, drug abuse and other security challenges across the state.

The development followed separate courtesy visits by the Commander of Narcotics, NDLEA Ondo Command, Afolayemi Adeyemo, and the Commander, 32 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Jubril Garba, to the Police State Headquarters in Alagbaka, Akure, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

The engagements, held with the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, psc, mnips, mspsp, focused on strengthening inter-agency collaboration through intelligence sharing, information exchange, joint operations and regular security engagements.

During his visit, Adeyemo stressed the importance of closer cooperation between the NDLEA and Police in combating drug abuse and crimes linked to illicit drugs.

He said stronger intelligence gathering and information sharing would enhance the agencies’ ability to identify and dismantle criminal syndicates operating in the state.

The NDLEA commander also commended CP Ohagwu for his efforts in combating crime and appealed for continued support from the Police Command during future operations.

Responding, CP Ohagwu assured the NDLEA of the Command’s continued cooperation and readiness to deepen the existing partnership.

Similarly, Brigadier General Garba said the Nigerian Army holds the Nigeria Police in high esteem as the lead security agency in the country.

He commended the Ondo Police Command for its efforts in curbing crime and explained that his visit was aimed at further strengthening the state’s security architecture through closer collaboration between the two agencies.

The Brigade Commander emphasized the need for effective intelligence sharing, joint operations and regular security meetings to improve operational efficiency and develop coordinated responses to emerging security threats.

He also assured the Police Command of the Brigade’s continued support in maintaining peace and security across Ondo State.

In his response, CP Ohagwu commended the Brigade Commander and pledged to further strengthen collaboration and operational synergy between the Police and the Nigerian Army.

The separate engagements underscore the growing importance of inter-agency cooperation in intelligence-led policing, coordinated operations and the collective fight against crime and drug-related activities in Ondo State.
