LASUSTECH Student Honoured with Scholarship at Gani Adams’ 55th Birthday Celebration
Newslens NG reports that Shakiru Oluwagbafunmi Samuel, a Mass Communication student at Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), has received a scholarship award of N300,000 from the Gani Adams Foundation Scholarship Scheme.
The award was presented on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the Whitestone Event Center in Oregun, Lagos, during the celebration of Iba Gani Adams’ 55th birthday.
In his remarks, Iba Gani Adams, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, noted that the scholarship initiative is an annual gesture aimed at supporting outstanding students from five tertiary institutions across Southwest Nigeria as part of his birthday celebrations.
Expressing his appreciation, Shakiru thanked the celebrant, the scholarship committee, and the Vice Chancellor of LASUSTECH for the honour. “I am truly grateful for this award. My heartfelt thanks go to Almighty God, the Gani Adams Foundation, and the celebrant for this remarkable recognition. I encourage fellow students to stay focused on their goals and extend my congratulations to other award recipients,” he said.
This year’s scholarship beneficiaries were drawn from five institutions: Lagos State University (LASU), University of Lagos (UNILAG), Ekiti State University (EKSU), Adeyemi College of Education (ACOED), Ondo, and LASUSTECH.
The initiative underscores the foundation’s enduring commitment to promoting education and empowering young scholars in the region.
