Globacom Kicks Off 20th Ojude Oba Sponsorship with Star-Studded Musical Night in Ijebu Ode

Telecommunications giant, Globacom, Nigeria’s foremost supporter of culture and tradition, on Friday night hosted a spectacular musical evening in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, to mark the beginning of celebrations for its 20th anniversary as sponsor of the renowned Ojude Oba festival.
The event, tagged “An Evening with Glo”, offered a rich preview of the upcoming festival and featured electrifying performances by musical legends, including Fuji maestro, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (K1 De Ultimate), and iconic Juju musician, Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi.
The evening also showcased rib-cracking comedy from popular comedians Gbenga Adeyinka, Bash, Dr Smile, and internet sensation Kiekie, who lit up the stage with humor and entertainment.
Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey thrilled the audience with timeless classics from his vast musical repertoire, prompting many guests to hit the dance floor. He also composed and performed a special tribute song in honor of Globacom’s two decades of sponsorship of the Ojude Oba festival. His songs, rich with philosophical depth, highlighted his enduring legacy in Nigerian music.
Globacom stated that the event was organized to appreciate the unwavering support of the Ijebu community over the past 20 years. “We decided to bring together the great sons and daughters of Ijebuland to celebrate our shared heritage and indulge in the melodious rhythms that resonate deeply throughout Yorubaland,” the company said.
The telecoms firm praised both featured musicians for their contributions to Nigeria’s cultural and musical landscape. Speaking on Chief Commander Obey, Glo noted, “He has contributed decades of good, sonorous, and philosophical songs to our society. His music remains timeless and inspirational.” On KWAM 1, the company added, “For decades, the King of Fuji, K1 De Ultimate, has been a mainstay in Nigeria’s music scene with a unique style of Fuji that continues to captivate fans.”
The event was graced by prominent sons and daughters of Ijebuland, including Chief Mrs. Olukemi Adetona, Olori of the Awujale of Ijebuland; Professor Fassy Yusuff, Coordinator of the Ojude Oba Festival Planning Committee; and Chief Mrs. Bisi Osibogun, Iyalode of Ijebuland and member of the festival committee.
With this musical evening, Globacom has set the tone for what promises to be a grand celebration of culture, tradition, and heritage at the 2025 Ojude Oba Festival.
