FRIENDS TURNED FAMILY

A family is a group of people related by blood and can also be two or more persons related by birth, marriage, or adoption who live together; all such related persons are considered as members of one family.

We were all taught these definitions in our various schools but there’s a part of family that is neither mentioned nor taught and almost everyone belongs to such family in one way or the other. It is very important but is never mentioned. These are friends turned family.

In our journey in life, we encounter these kinds of person(s) as a school mates, colleagues at work, neighbors, church members etc. What we have with them will be very strong that it would seem like we are related by blood.

These set of people are the ones you truly take as confidants, ones you go through life’s journey with, ones who believe in you and push you to success. They build you up and help you achieve your dreams. These are not friends with benefits but friends with a true and pure intentions.

They become your family overtime even though you are not related by blood. If your blood relations do these for you, but if someone you are not related to by blood does this, it is an extra blessing.

The aim of this writing is for us to recognize these people in our lives and appreciate them.

What does the bible say about this?

Proverbs 18:24 A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
This simply means that it is not in the multitude but in the quality of your acquaintances you will get a friend that will stick closer than a brother (related by blood)

So don’t go about bringing every Tom, Dick and Harry into your life but be discerning to know the right ones to bring closer.

WHAT TO DO:

Walk in the will and plan of God for your life because if you do, He will bring the right people around you at the right time.

Be who you want. If you want a good friend, be one!

Work on yourself so you don’t chase them away with your bad habit when they show up in your life because friends that stick with you through thick and thin is a friend indeed.
