Yinka Quadri Reveals Why He Abandoned School to Rescue Father’s Business

Veteran Nollywood actor Yinka Quadri has opened up about the personal sacrifice that shaped his early life, revealing that he voluntarily left school to help his father manage the family business.

Quadri disclosed that his decision was driven by concerns over his father’s growing dependence on a relative who had spent years working in the family’s trading business.

The actor shared the experience during an interview on the African A-List Podcast, published on YouTube on October 10, 2026.

According to him, the situation centred on his late uncle’s son, who had been sent to work with his father to learn the family trade. The arrangement between their parents was for the young man to spend 10 years acquiring the necessary business skills before returning to his own family.

However, Quadri explained that the arrangement extended beyond the agreed period, with his cousin continuing to work with his father for 16 years.

He said his father had become so accustomed to relying on the relative that their relationship had grown beyond a conventional business arrangement, with his father treating him almost like his own son.

Faced with the situation, Quadri decided to discontinue his education to help his father manage the business and address the challenges confronting the family.

The actor, however, clarified that his father did not compel him to abandon school, stressing that the decision was entirely his own.
