Rite Foods Partners with NASRE Foundation to Support Ailing and Vulnerable Journalists
Rite Foods Limited, a leading indigenous player in Nigeria’s Food and Beverage industry, has partnered with the Noble Association of Social and Resourceful Editors (NASRE) Foundation to provide support for ailing journalists and widows of deceased media professionals across the country.
This collaboration aligns with NASRE’s mission to offer critical assistance to journalists battling health issues. The foundation had previously executed three impactful outreach programs in the past year, reaching dozens of beneficiaries.
The Rite Foods management welcomed the NASRE team to its corporate headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos, on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Representing the Managing Director, Mr. Saleem Adegunwa, the company’s Head of Corporate Communications and Brand Management, Mr. Ekuma Eze, expressed delight at the visit and praised NASRE’s humanitarian efforts.
During the meeting, NASRE’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Adeyemi Obadimu, highlighted the foundation’s objectives and shed light on the harsh realities many veteran journalists face today, including severe health and financial difficulties, despite their years of meritorious service.
Obadimu noted that NASRE’s outreach in the previous year successfully supported over 70 individuals, including journalists living with conditions such as partial stroke, as well as widows and widowers of late media professionals. He stressed the urgency of caring for journalists in distress, especially those who laid the groundwork for today’s media landscape.
“Journalism is often a thankless profession. Beyond the bylines, it is vital that we stand by our colleagues who have given so much to the industry,” he said.
Adding to the conversation, NASRE’s Director of Public Engagement, Mr. Bunmi Obarotimi—representing the association’s President, Mr. Femi Oyewale—disclosed plans to officially launch the NASRE Foundation later this year. He commended Rite Foods for coming on board as a valued partner in this initiative.
In his remarks, Mr. Eze lauded NASRE for its impactful work and reaffirmed Rite Foods’ commitment to initiatives that support societal well-being, particularly within the media sector. He acknowledged the foundation’s successful outreach and emphasized the company’s readiness to contribute meaningfully to its cause.
“At Rite Foods, we are committed to societal advancement. Supporting the health and welfare of journalists—those who inform and educate the public—is a cause we wholeheartedly embrace,” Eze stated.
He added that the partnership extends beyond financial support and aims to foster a sustainable ecosystem where journalists can flourish despite the challenges they face.
Eze also spoke about the company’s broader vision, which includes expanding operations across Africa. “Our growth strategy is centered on contributing to national development—creating jobs, driving economic growth, and advancing the food and beverage industry not just in Nigeria, but across the continent,” he said.
He further emphasized Rite Foods’ longstanding commitment to innovation, quality, and service excellence, underscoring its role in reducing unemployment and boosting economic opportunities through impactful collaborations.
“Our mission is to enhance lives through quality products and meaningful partnerships. Collaborating with organizations like NASRE reflects our core values of social impact and community development,” Eze concluded.
The partnership between Rite Foods and NASRE represents a significant stride in addressing the welfare of journalists in Nigeria, ensuring that those who have served the nation through their craft receive the care, dignity, and recognition they rightfully deserve
