Police Recruitment Update: PSC Announces Date For Medical Screening (See Details)

Few weeks after applicants of Nigeria Police Force ongoing recruitment exercise wrote an aptitude test, the Police Service Commission has fixed November 22 to commence medical screening for candidates who passed its aptitude test

This came after the PSC received a report and results of the aptitude tests it conducted in late October on Friday.

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of training, Danmallam Muhammed, submitted the report to PSC’s Permanent Secretary, William Alo, at a meeting on Friday.

“The meeting which reviewed the on-going completion of the 2020 recruitment exercise arose with a decision to commence medical screening of successful and shortlisted applicants on Monday, November 22 in the 17th Zonal headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force.

“Successful/shortlisted applicants are expected to be contacted immediately and directed on when to come for the screening.

“A total of 74,058 applicants sat for the aptitude tests in the 36 states and the federal capital territory, Abuja. This comprises 62,588 male applicants and 11, 470 females,” said PSC’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani.

Amidst growing insecurity in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari had in his 2021 Independence Day speech directed the recruitment of 10,000 policemen annually for the next six years.

Earlier in the week, the Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi, disclosed that President Buhari had approved salary increment for policemen in the country.

According to Dingyadi, Buhari directed the Salaries and Wages Commission to work out the package and submit it to the government for consideration.

He disclosed this while defending his ministry’s budget before the joint National Assembly committee on police affairs.
