Police Arrest Man For Allegedly Killing Wife Over Fixing Of Window Net
The Police in Nasarawa have arrested Ovye Yakubu over the alleged murder of his wife, Esther Aya.
The incident happened in their residence at the Sabonpegi-Shabu community of Lafia, the state capital.
Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday.
The suspect was arrested on Friday and is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia.
The accused allegedly beat his wife to death following an argument that led to a quarrel.
A family member said the suspect tried to stop a carpenter engaged by the wife to fix their window net.
Yakubu allegedly beat her up for insisting that the carpenter should continue with the work.
“The deceased engaged the service of a carpenter to fix net in their windows to prevent mosquitoes.
“But the husband stopped the carpenter, which the wife resisted. The husband started beating her in the process”, he told NAN.
The carpenter confirmed that the suspect chased him away when he was trying to fix the net.
The corpse of the woman has been deposited in a morgue for post-mortem examination
