The newly appointed Minister of power, Adebayo Adelabu has found himself in a series of serious crises just a few days after he got into office.

Among the ministers appointed by President Tinubu, He is one of the few whom the public has perceived to be incompetent to carry out their duties.

Being the minister of power, the intervention of Adebayo Adelabu is needed especially at a time when the power supply is not in its best state in the country but sadly, the minister hasn’t taken any step in light of his duties since he emerged, instead, it’s been moments of Jamboree for the honorable minister.

Adelabu hasn’t been seen meeting with stakeholders in the power sector but has visited several politicians probably to appreciate them for recommending him to the president as the best fit for the job even though He doesn’t seem to be.

In the last week, he visited the first lady, Oluremi Tinubu, the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje and just yesterday, a sort of homecoming celebration was held for him at the Ibadan Airport when he arrived yesterday.

The height of his errors was a thread he made on Twitter explaining some of his plans for the power sector in the country. He mentioned some projects that will be completed in his administration.

These were his words

‘’Power for Economic Growth’’

‘’I want to say that between six months and one year, we will start seeing improvement in the power sector. Within the next six months, there would be a major addition to the national grid, in terms of the hydropower plant, that is the Zugeru 700MW in Niger state, which is about to be completed.’’

‘’This will be the biggest one in Sub-sahara Africa when completed. The Kanji dam that we all grew up to know supplies about 460MW, Sororo dam supplies about 520MW. I will do everything to ensure that the Zugeru power plant is inaugurated and subsequently add 700MW to the national grid’’

‘’We know it’s not achievable overnight but we believe that once the foundation is laid, others can also build on it and then we will begin to actualize the use of power for economic growth in our nation.’’

However, some of the proposals, like the Zugeru power plant which he claims will be completed in the next six months, had been completed by the previous administration.

Former Minister of Power Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu has said the 700 megawatts Zungeru Hydroelectric power project has been completed and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is ready to accept power transmitted from the power generating plant.

These costly mistakes have caused the public to raise eyebrows and concerns about the competence of the minister of power, Adebayo Adelabu. Many have recommended his sack because he has made nothing other than errors since he was appointed to serve in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu had vowed that he would not allow any form of incompetence and laziness in his administration during the swearing-in ceremony of the ministers in Abuja. This means anyone found wanting in his or her place of duty will be dropped from the administration.

With Adebayo Adelabu’s nonchalant attitude towards work, it’s obvious he is headed towards being dropped from the administration.
