Mentally Unstable man Fatally Stabs NSCDC Operative to death in Ondo
A personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has died after being stabbed by a mentally unstable boy in Ondo State.
The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident, which occurred on Thursday at Oke-Ala, Oba-Ile in Akure North Local Government Area.
DSP Olushola Ayanlade, the Police Public Relations Officer, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Akure that the NSCDC operative died in the hospital while receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the attack.
According to Ayanlade, the operative was attempting to restrain the boy when he was stabbed multiple times.
An eyewitness said the mother of the mentally unstable boy had invited two NSCDC personnel to help her restrain and chain him due to his violent behaviour. In the process, the boy reportedly overpowered one of the officers, disarmed him, and repeatedly stabbed him with a knife.
“Unfortunately, the civil defence officer died despite having a firearm with him during the incident,” the eyewitness added.
Confirming the development, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer in the state, DSC Daniel Aidamenbor, said the operative was attacked while trying to restrain the boy for transportation to a medical facility for treatment.
