Former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun Loses Husband at 62
Former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has been thrown into mourning following the death of her husband, Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who passed away in Lagos at the age of 62.
The late businessman reportedly died on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, according to a statement issued by the Adeosun family and signed by Reverend C. A. Adeosun.
Announcing the sad development, the family said it was grieving with “profound sorrow” but remained submissive to the will of God.
They described the deceased as a respected businessman and devoted Christian whose life was defined by integrity, generosity, diligence, and unwavering faith. The statement noted that he was deeply committed to serving God, his family, and the wider community, leaving behind a legacy that inspired many who came in contact with him.
Anthony Adeosun is survived by his wife, former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun, their children, and siblings, including businessman Adewale Adeosun, founder of Kuramo Capital.
The family said details of the funeral and Christian burial arrangements would be announced at a later date while expressing appreciation for the prayers, condolences, and support received during the difficult period.
Kemi Adeosun served as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance between 2015 and 2018 during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. �
