Fidelity Bank Champions Youth Development Through Sponsorship of Gymfest Championship 2.0

Fidelity Bank Plc, a leading financial institution in Nigeria, has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment by serving as the headline sponsor of the Gymfest Championship 2.0.

Held over the weekend in Lagos, the championship recorded impressive participation from children aged 3 to 12, competing across levels 1 to 7. Gymfest 2.0 convened gymnasts, parents, schools, clubs, and sponsors, all driven by a shared mission to nurture emerging gymnastic talent nationwide.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, Divisional Head, Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank Plc, noted that the bank’s support for gymnastics aligns with its broader agenda to invest in platforms that empower young Nigerians to achieve their full potential.

Co-founder of the Gymfest Championship and Founder of Tee Tumblers Gymnastics Club, Yoyin Akpose, also spoke on the long-term vision behind the initiative. She emphasized that Gymfest aims to create a robust ecosystem of children, parents, clubs, schools, and sponsors connected by a unified passion for gymnastics.

“Our goal is to make gymnastics accessible to every child with a dream, by establishing fully equipped training centers across communities — from Surulere to Ikorodu, Ikeja, Apapa, and beyond,” Akpose stated.

“GYMFEST is redefining the landscape by offering a structured pathway for talent development, global exposure, and professional coaching,” she added.

A standout moment from the event was the exceptional performance of Oluwatoni Pitan, who emerged as the overall best gymnast in the Level 2 Vault category.

Expressing her delight, she said, “I’m very excited because I didn’t expect this at all. This is my first Level 2 competition, and I prepared for three weeks. I encourage other female gymnasts to work hard and stay consistent — your big moment can come when you least expect it.”

Oluwatoni also thanked Fidelity Bank, the event organizers, and her parents for providing the platform to showcase her abilities and pursue her aspirations as a young athlete.
