Drama in UNICROSS as Armed Robber accidentally Falls Inside Well After Raiding Students Hostel

An armed robber, known by the nickname Bob Jay, accidentally fell into an open well on Friday night after he and his accomplices raided a student hostel at the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Okuku campus.
A student of the varsity named Regina told reporters that the robbers attacked the hostel around midnight, stealing laptops, phones, and money.

However, following the robbery, one of the criminals fell into a well while attempting to flee with their stolen items.

“They were many that came around 12 midnight. They robbed all the students in the Okuku hostel. They stabbed one student, and broke the head of another with a stick before escaping with phones, laptops and other valuables,” Regina reportedly told Vanguard in a phone conversation.

According to her, the well, which has no cover, was used by students to fetch water to bathe and wash clothes.

“Nobody knew that one of the robbers fell into the well until dawn when students went to fetch water and saw the man inside dead. They raised the alarm, and the community people came and took him out and was identified as one of the robbers and some people said his name is Bob Jay from Mbube,a neighbouring village,” the student added.

She mentioned that the authorities had been notified, and they arrived to remove the body.

She also stated that no other members of the gang had been identified yet, as the phone of the robber found in his pocket is unclear.
